Our Mission
Richmond LAND builds grassroots power for community-controlled land and housing through organizing, acquisition, development, and stewardship — for the long-term benefit of Richmond residents.
What we are working towards
We’re working toward thriving, rooted neighborhoods across Richmond and Contra Costa County — where:
Residents have secure, affordable homes
Small businesses and community orgs flourish
Culture and connection are protected
Development reflects our vision, not market pressures
We imagine a future where homegrown leadership drives community projects — with the power to create, finance, and sustain housing and land-use for collective good.
Our vision is a living economy that centers equity, care, and shared ownership — not extraction.
GUIDING FRAMEWORK
We ground our work in the Just Transition framework — a vision-led, place-based roadmap for moving from an extractive economy to one that is regenerative and rooted in justice.
Our understanding is shaped by Black feminist thought and decolonial praxis. As we grow, we stay committed to evolving through collective action, programming, and deep community practice.
Richmond LAND is answering the call to build a new system — one that serves people, not profit.
