How can our community have staying power?

What will our neighborhoods look like and who will benefit?

We decide, Create & Control together.

Richmond LAND’s mission is to build grassroots power for resident-driven and community-controlled land-use through community organizing, land acquisition, development, and stewardship of land and affordable housing for lasting community benefit.

We believe that our communities possess the inherent skills and capabilities to advance neighborhood stabilization, strengthen our communities cultural fabric, and create housing and other development projects our residents need. We are committed to efforts that authentically involve and grow the power of homegrown residents to engage and subvert conventional planning, real estate, and development practices to combat displacement and put forward equitable growth of our community. In order for communities' visions and solutions for land use and housing to become a reality, we need to become the practitioners to implement the efforts.

Our Organizational Framework

Power Building

Richmond LAND creates pathways for residents to shape real estate, land use and development in Richmond and West Contra Costa areas. We do this through increasing collective knowledge, connection to resources, and growing capacity for resident decision-making, leadership, and action. We work with local, regional and national movement building coalitions to integrate strategic efforts that build collective impact.
